Over Rs 1.75 crores, in new currency, seized in raids at different places

Delhi :

Over Rs 1.75 crore were seized and eight people were arrested in raids at different places by the police and the CBI on Wednesday. The Goa police arrested two people and seized Rs.1.5 crores in new currency notes during raids in Ponda and Porvorim. The police is investigating the case.

In another such incident, unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 11.13 lakh, mostly in the denomination of new Rs 2000 notes, and mobiles were recovered from two persons near the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Belagavi district in Karnataka. Of the recovered cash, Rs 8.5 lakhs was in denomination of new Rs 2,000 notes, Rs 1.5 lakh in Rs 100 currency notes and remaining Rs 50,000 in demonetised Rs 500 notes.
